ScreenshotsBehavePlus output is graphically oriented; the inputs are designed for ease-of-use; and a comprehensive online help system is available in the program. Displayed below are examples of some of these features.
Typical BehavePlus table outputs are shown, where multiple input values have been specified for both Wind Speed and 1-h Moisture.
A Surface Rate of Spread graph has been created using 1-hr Dead Fuel Moisture and Midflame Wind Speed as the independent variables. When as many as two input variables have multiple values BehavePlus produces customizable graphs.
Fire Shape diagrams with wind vector can be generated. Other diagrams available include: a Fire Characteristics (Hauling) Chart, a Wind/Slope/Spread Direction Diagram, and a Containment Diagram.
Fire behavior modules and options are easily selected using dialog boxes as shown below. When multiple modules are selected, they are automatically linked and their required inputs appear on the Worksheet.
The BehavePlus Worksheet can be configured for any possible fire behavior problem. It displays the selected modules, required inputs, selected options, and outputs. Custom Worksheets can be saved for future use.
There is an assortment of options available to control BehavePlus displays on the screen and in printed output.
A variable index describing all BehavePlus inputs and outputs is available via the Menu Bar.
Many dialog boxes contain a built-in Help Browser that automatically displays the appropriate content when the dialog box is opened.
Two reference papers -- the BehavePlus User's Guide and the BehavePlus Variables paper -- are available on the Menu or via Tool Bars. They can be viewed on screen where you can search them electronically or browse via the left-hand navigation pane. They are designed to be printed in color or black and white; single or double sided. These two publications and the Features paper are available on the Publications page.
The Fire Characteristics Chart Surface Fire Option expands on capabilities of the chart in BehavePlus and is based on Andrews and Rothermel (1982).
The Fire Characteristics Chart Crown Fire Option is based on Rothermel (1991).
The Fire Characteristics Chart program provides expanded capabilities for modifying graphs.
