Simulate > Modify Map > Export Barrier File

This command opens the "Save Vector Barrier File" dialog box where you save the current fire barriers as output vector files.

The "Save Vector Barrier File" dialog box gives two output format options in the Save as type: box;

1. ARC UNGENERATE ASCII file with the .BAR extension, or

2. an ArcView shapefile, (FARSITE will create the three necessary files with extensions .SHP, .SHX, and .DBF).

These vector barrier files can be used in a GIS or other FARSITE simulations using the Simulate > Modify Map > Import Barrier File.
